STRANDED ON EARTH was Valient Thorr's first album released on CD by Venge Records on July 1st, 2003. (Or so says Wikipedia. I believe we had it already on tour with us that June and theres a poster hanging in my bathroom from May of that year where we played maybe a cd release party at Peasants Cafe in Greenville NC).
So whatever- the history books (that always get things wrong) say that July 1st 2023 is the 20 year anniversary of SOE. With that in mind- the very first release on Smokedoggg Records will be a rerelease of that album on 100 pink cassettes, 300 pink vinyl, and up on all digital outlets. However… just like 2003- I’m not gonna make you wait until July 1st to get them. The cassettes are here.

If youve ever seen a copy of the original cd, you know it was pink. That’s why the colors were picked- to match Tyler Wolf's original artwork. The album was recorded by John Plymale in Durham, NC at Overdub Lane. It highlights the early exploration and rocknroll weirdness of Valient Thorr as what they self described as genre killers.
The band at the beginning was Valient Himself, Dr Professor Nightwolf Strangees, Eidan Thorr, Jjin Thorr, and Donn Thorr.

hardcore punk, jazz, alien themes, kind of all my jams wrapped into a tight package. Intense, freaky, lean runtime but feels dense especially being sectioned into essentially 4 parts. Easily one of the best punk records of the decade so far. Also that drumming...holy shit alienasu
